In celebration of the fifteen year anniversary of Perry Ogden’s feature film, Pavee Lackeen and Ciara Nic Chormaic’s 2020 documentary Skin + Soul, we welcome both directors for a joint Q&A.
Hosted by Irish Film & TV Academy CEO Áine Moriarty.
This portrait of the acclaimed photographer and filmmaker Perry Ogden reveals how a career of finding beauty in unexpected places has created some of the art and fashion world’s most enduring images. Heavily informed by the street culture of his youth, Ogden was one of the first fashion photographers to use real people in his photography.
From his early beginnings shooting on the streets of London to filming Helena Christensen in the wilds of Connemara, Native Americans in Monument Valley and Irish Travellers at Smithfield Horse Fair in Dublin, Perry Ogden’s photography has consistently blurred the lines between art and fashion and challenged perceptions of beauty.
His acclaimed books ‘Pony Kids’, ‘Paddy & Liam’ and ‘7 Reece Mews Francis Bacon’s studio’ have appeared side by side with memorable shoots for Vogue Italia, W Magazine and Ralph Lauren.
Skin + Soul is a cinematic journey into the worlds created by Perry where art, fashion and street culture come together in timeless images.
